Challenger has officially posted MOST of the programs for the 2024 season, March thru Oct 2024. Challenger is partnering with the Cole Land Transportation Museum to create dual programs. In the 2024 schedule there will be a Challenger program partnered with a Cole Museum program. We are so excited to offer you some great homeschool opportunities.


2024 Homeschool Program Information

June 11: Rocket Building Challenge

Join the Challenger Team for this free program as we partner up with the Cole Land Transportation Museum to complete a rocket building program!

June 11 from 11AM – 12pm. This is a drop off event

Cost: FREE

Location: This program will be held at the Cole Land Transportation Museum, 405 Perry Rd, Bangor, ME

Sept 18th: Maine to the Moon

We invite your middle schooler to join us for a day of discovery, starting here in Maine and ending with the Moon! Students start at the Cole Land Transportation Museum where they will interview Maine Veterans about their experiences, then tour the Cole Museum. After lunch (not provided) students are invited to the Challenger Learning Center to run our Lunar Quest Mission with a goal of surveying the Moon for safe human habitats.

This day is designed for students in 5th-8th grade and, while transportation will be required between the Cole Museum and Challenger, can otherwise be a drop off event. Families are encouraged to independently visit the Cole Museum while students are there.

Cost: $5/student

Vet Interview @ Cole 9-11 AM
Lunch and travel 11-12 (lunch AND transportation must be provided through family)
Mission @ Challenger Maine 12-2:30 PM

Location: The first part of the program will be held at the Cole Land Transportation Museum, 405 Perry Rd, Bangor, ME. The second part of the program will be at Challenger Maine, 30 Venture Way, Bangor, ME.

Oct 16th: Lego Robotic Vehicle Challenge

Join the Challenger Team October 16th as we partner up with the Cole Land Transportation Museum to explore some examples of engineering through the ages found in Cole’s vehicles, then apply what we have seen by building and programing our very own Lego vehicles.

Designed for students in grades 2-6

Entire event takes place at the Cole Land Transportation Museum. Drop off event, however guardians can stay if preferred, or tour Cole Museum with the rest of the family during this activity

Cost: FREE

Cole Museum Tour 1-2pm
Lego programming with Challenger 2-3 PM
