Outreach

If you are looking for fun events that are rich with science content, the Challenger Learning Center of Maine provides exciting programs for scouts, PTO/PTAs, homeschool groups, ROTCs – you name it! We offer a wide range of STEM Programs, designed to meet your needs. We will work with you to find a program that accommodates the size of your group and the size of your budget! Here are a couple examples of the kinds of programs that we offer:

 

Afterschool LEGO club:

Challenger Afterschool LEGO club combines the excitement of LEGO creation with engineering fun, including the use of Challenger’s LEGO WeDo Engineering kits to build and program LEGO robots!

Two sessions are available for the Fall of 2017.  Each session runs for four weeks and meets on Wednesdays from 3:30-4:30 PM.  The LEGO club is open to new and returning students in grades 2-5.  The cost is $60 for each session to be paid upon acceptance confirmation. Club meetings will be at the Challenger Learning Center of Maine [30 Venture Way, Bangor, ME].  Sign ups may be made for one or both sessions.

Fall Session 1: Sept. 27, Oct. 4, 11, 18

Topics: Rocket Park, Build a bridge, WeDo Robotic Birds, WeDo Robotic Monkey

Fall Session 2: Oct. 25, Nov. 1, 8, 15

Topics: Autumn Scene Community Build, LEGO glasses, WeDo Robotic Gears, WeDo Robotic Alligator

 

Afterschool LEGO Club Fall 2017 Apply Here

After applying, you will receive an email confirming if space is available for your child.  Attending participants will then receive further details on preparation for club meetings, payment instruction, and medical/photo consent forms by email.

Pop-Up Makerspace: Girl Scouts

Come try out Challenger Center’s new makerspace, where you can design, test, build, glue, craft and more!  After a walk through of the work stations, you will be able to choose projects to work on from handicrafts to electronics.

Pop-Up Makerspace: Cub Scouts

Cub Scout Program

Location: Challenger Learning Center of Maine

Scouts: grades K-5

Space is limited so submit your reservation now (below). Admission: $12/scout (adults are free). You will be emailed a receipt that will serve as your program confirmation. Advance registration is required for this event.

It is recommended that Den Leaders use this form to register their group.  If you are signing up your scout and not coming with a den–please note it below in the “Additional Information” section.

Parent/Teacher Organizations- If you are looking for a great program to engage students and families at your school, you’ve found the answer!  Our Family Science nights are designed to excite large groups.  We are glad to work with your organization to create a program that will meet your needs.
