Powering the Modern World!
Engineering, collaboration, and design! In the Wind Turbine Challenge, students work together to design and construct turbine blades to generate the maximum amount of energy to power the modern world.
This task requires iterative design and communication, and pushes students to create better and better solutions.
Activity Type: In-person at Challenger Maine or at your location
Activity Goal: Create wind turbine blades to maximize voltage output by a generator.
Target Audience: 2nd through 5th grades
Crew Size: 5-20 students
Program Length: 2 hours
Price: $300 @ Challenger Maine or $350* travel to your location
Learning Objectives:
Students will be able to iteratively improve on an engineering design to achieve a desired goal.

* Mileage: $0.70 per mile through Dec 31, 2025. Price will update January 1, 2026 based on the new federal rate. Remember to calculate for total miles to and from destination. Mileage not covered by scholarship funding.
